About Me
Erika Frydenlund, PhD
I believe that clarity rarely comes from simplifying complexity away. More often, it comes from creating the space to think through complexity with greater attention, reflection, and intention.
My work as an executive coach and facilitator is shaped by years spent navigating interdisciplinary environments where people are asked to lead, collaborate, create, and make decisions under conditions of uncertainty. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable professionals carrying invisible forms of overwhelm — balancing institutional demands, intellectual ambition, leadership responsibilities, caregiving, graduate education, or periods of personal and professional transition while trying to remain grounded and connected to what matters most.
Through Lyric Road, I offer reflective, systems-oriented coaching for individuals seeking greater coherence in the midst of complexity. I work with professionals, academics, graduate students, researchers, and interdisciplinary teams who are navigating overload, uncertainty, burnout, identity shifts, or the pressures of working within demanding institutions and systems. My approach integrates systems thinking, narrative practice, arts-based inquiry, and structured reflection to help people move through uncertainty more intentionally and think more clearly about the paths in front of them.
In addition to coaching, I facilitate interdisciplinary workshops and speaking engagements focused on collaboration, systems thinking, ethics, and reflective practice. I am also a computational social scientist and co-founder of Storymodelers and Arcsmith, collaborative initiatives exploring narrative, systems, creativity, and institutional life.
